Associating an image with a document

Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console allows you to associate an image with an entire document or set of documents, thus saving the need to add graphic image annotations to the documents themselves. Images associated with documents are viewable in the Graphic Viewer as per graphic image annotations.

To associate an image with a document:

  1. Ensure that the image is in the same directory, and at the same level, as the file with which it is to be associated.
  2. The image and the document should have the same name, except for the file extension. Rename the image to match the name of the file with which it is to be associated. For example, if the file is named C:\diagrams\graph1.doc, the image should be named C:\diagrams\graph1.jpg (or whatever the appropriate file extension is).
  3. When Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console finds a document and an image in the same directory with the same name, it automatically associates the image with the document. When that document is viewed in the Document Browser, the View Image icon appears on the tool bar.
  4. To view the associated image, click or select Tools > View Image. The image will open in the Graphics viewer.
Note: Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console supports multi-page DCX and TIFF images and where such an image is associated with a full document, Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console will correlate the open document page to the corresponding open image page.

Note: If you have altered your Index Options such that annotations are stored in a different directory to your documents, then your associated images will also be looked for in that directory.
